FRMA families,

It is with great pleasure that I share that Fred Rodgers Magnet Academy has earned an exemplary rating by the Illinois State Board of Education for the 24-25 school year. This award means that our school is in the top 10% of middle schools in the entire state of Illinois! Congratulations to our students, staff and parent community for their hard work to make our school community a great place which has resulted in this recognition.

First Quarter Report Cards
Grades for the first quarter have now been posted and are visible through ParentVUE. If you have any questions about your child’s grade, please contact the teacher directly.

Parent University
Just a reminder if you haven’t already registered for District 131’s 6th annual Parent University which will happen on Saturday, November 8, at East Aurora High School, 500 Tomcat Ln, Enter through door #8. This conference will cover topics for all parents/guardians with sessions from birth to college in English and Spanish and a raffle at the end of the day. Free breakfast and lunch will be provided as well as childcare for children ages 3-11 years old. To register, please use this link. Resilience Education Center (REC) Catalog
There’s a few opportunities for families and Pre-K to High School students to take a class throughout November and December at the REC if you are interested in Art Studio Classes, Culinary Kitchen Classes or Dance Studio Classes. Local Food Resources
The Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry is open each Saturday at East Aurora High School, door #33-Smith to Ziegler Ave (next to Aurora National Guard Recruiter). from 9:00 a.m-11:00 a.m. They ask that you please bring your own bags and/or boxes.

The Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, 1110 Jericho Road, Aurora, IL 60506 is open for food distribution on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. The Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry also has the option to do a quick drive-up to obtain food on Fridays between 11:00 a.m and 1:00 p.m. There is also the option to have a box of groceries delivered to your home weekly on Wednesdays, depending when you place an order through the pantry’s website. East Aurora Dads Group

STEM Ignition
The afterschool STEM Ignition club will return to Fred Rodgers Magnet Academy to meet with 6-8th grade students on Thursdays from 2:30-4:00 p.m. starting on November 13, 2025. Students will be visited from the Aurora library, Friends of the Fox River and Elite Chess for Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Robotics, Science experiments and more! Registration is required and class size is limited. Choir
All 6-8th grade boys and girls are welcome to join choir after school from 2:30-4:30 p.m. with Ms. Huggins. The rehearsal dates are on Thursdays: November 13, November 20, December 4, December 11 and a Winter Concert on Thursday, December 18th. There is an activity bus available for students who receive transportation in the mornings and afternoons. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Huggins at: ahuggins@d131.org

Jazz Band
Last week, band students received a sheet to send home with information about the afterschool jazz band. Band students who join jazz band will meet after school at 2:45-4:00 p.m. in the band room, on scheduled Wednesdays to rehearse the music. The Jazz band will have an opportunity to perform for the December 18, 2025 Winter Concert, presented in the Magnet Academy gym. There may be other performance opportunities as well. Listed below is the schedule for all Wednesday rehearsals: October 29, November 12, November 19, December 3, December 10, and December 17. Universidad de Padres
Les recordamos que si aún no se han inscrito en la sexta edición anual de la Universidad para Padres del Distrito 131, que se llevará a cabo el sábado 8 de noviembre en la Preparatoria East Aurora, ubicada en 500 Tomcat Ln, ingresen por la puerta n.° 8. Esta conferencia tendrá temas para todos los padres y tutores, con sesiones desde el nacimiento hasta la universidad, en Inglés y Español, y una rifa al final del día. Se ofrecerá desayuno y almuerzo gratuitos, así como cuidado de niños de 3 a 11 años. Para inscribirse, utilice este enlace. Recursos Alimentarios Locales
La despensa de alimentos Marie Wilkinson abre todos los Sábados en la escuela preparatoria East Aurora, puerta n.° 33, entre Smith y Ziegler Ave (junto al reclutador de la Guardia Nacional de Aurora), de 9:00 a.m. a 11:00 a.m. Se solicita que traiga sus propias bolsas o cajas.

La despensa de alimentos interreligiosa del área de Aurora, ubicada en 1110 Jericho Road, Aurora, IL 60506, distribuye alimentos los Lunes, Martes y Jueves de 10:00 a. m. a 2:00 p. m. Los estudiantes recibirán la visita de representantes de la biblioteca Aurora, Friends of the Fox River y Elite Chess para aprender sobre Ciencia, Tecnología, Ingeniería, Matemáticas, Robótica, Experimentos Científicos ¡y mucho más! Coro
Todos los niños y niñas de 6.º a 8.º grado están invitados a unirse al coro después de clases, de 2:30 a 4:30 p. m., con la Srta. Huggins. Banda de Jazz
La semana pasada, los estudiantes de la banda recibieron una hoja informativa para llevar a casa sobre la banda de jazz extraescolar. Los estudiantes que se unan a la banda de jazz se reunirán después de clases, de 2:45 p.m. a 4:00 p.m., en el salón de música, los miércoles programados para ensayar. La banda de jazz tendrá la oportunidad de presentarse en el Concierto de Invierno del 18 de Diciembre de 2025, que tendrá lugar en el gimnasio de la Academia Magnet. También podrían surgir otras oportunidades de presentación. A continuación, se presenta el calendario de ensayos de los Miércoles: 29 de Octubre, 12 de Noviembre, 19 de Noviembre, 3 de Diciembre, 10 de Diciembre y 17 de Diciembre.
