Parent Newsletter - April 5Boletín para padres - 5 de abril

FRMA families,

This week marks the start of our final quarter of the 23-24 school year. There are many important learning activities planned as well as events to recognize our students’ successes this year.

Please be aware of these important announcements for next week:

Monday, April 8th, Eclipse
FRMA students will have the opportunity to experience the solar eclipse occurring on Monday, April 8th, through a variety of learning events at school. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. This natural phenomena provides us a unique opportunity to participate in authentic STEM learning, as Aurora will be able to view the eclipse with approximately 94% coverage of the sun by the moon during the school day, making for an incredible educational opportunity for our students.

The eclipse can be safely viewed provided that proper eye protection is worn. Eclipse glasses are NOT regular sunglasses; regular sunglasses, no matter how dark, are not safe for viewing the Sun. Our school has purchased enough pairs of eclipse glasses to share with each student and staff member to safely view the event.

We will run a modified end of the day assembly schedule next Monday, as optimal viewing will be from 1:45-2:30 p.m., with the nearest to totality moment occurring at 2:07 p.m. For those who will not be outside, or in the event of inclement weather, we will offer viewing of a live feed inside the school.

Participation outside is optional. In order to view the eclipse outdoors under the supervision of staff, students must return a signed permission slip that allows students to view the eclipse outside using special glasses certified for safety. These permission slips were sent home with students on Tuesday, April 2nd, and need to be returned to the main office by Friday, April 5th. Students who do not turn in a signed permission form will view the live feed of the event inside.

National Library Week Spirit Week Celebration
Next week is National Library Week and students and staff can participate starting with:

Monday, April 8: “Exercise the Brain Day”- Wear sweats or workout clothes.
Tuesday, April 9: “I’m Wild About Reading Day”- Wear wild, wacky, unmatched clothes.
Wednesday, April 10: “Get in the Game and Read”-Wear a sport’s shirt.
Thursday, April 11: “Throwback Thursday”- Share your favorite childhood book.
Friday, April 12: “I Dream of Reading”- Wear PJs and/or slippers.

Online Registration for 24-25 School Year
Completing your child’s online registration is an important step in getting your students ready for the next school year. If you have any questions or need a password reset for your Infinite Campus Parent Portal, please contact Parent Liaison Leslie Hernandez at: 630-299-7177 or lhernandez@d131.org or stop by the main office for in-person help.

EA Dad’s Meeting
There will be an in person meeting on April 10th from 8:45 a.m – 9:45 a.m. at the Resilience Education Center (R.E.C.), 417 Fifth Street, Aurora, IL. If you have any questions, please contact Mariza Martinez, Assistant Director of the Resilience Education Center at: mmartinez02@d131.org

African American Parent Association (AAPA) Meeting
There will be an in-person meeting next week on Thursday, April 11 from 5:30 p.m – 6:30 p.m. at the Resilience Education Center. Friday, April 12th, day of Silence
On Friday, April 12th, the FRMA GLOW Club will be sponsoring the Day of Silence. On this date, students take a vow of silence to take a stand against the silencing effect of bullying and harassment.

Participation is voluntary and interested students must sign up through the Google form shared this week by teachers. Participating students will wear lanyards designating when they are not speaking. Students are still required to participate in class activities and do homework. Participating students may also elect to remove the lanyards at their own discretion and speak throughout the day.

Students can also get involved and show their support by wearing stickers if they don’t complete the form or want to take the full vow of silence.

Esta semana marca el inicio de nuestro último trimestre del año escolar 23-24. Hay muchas actividades importantes de aprendizaje planeadas al igual que eventos para reconocer los éxitos de nuestros estudiantes este año.

Tenga en cuenta estos anuncios importantes para la próxima semana:

Lunes, 8 de Abril, Eclipse
Los estudiantes de FRMA tendrán la oportunidad de vivir la experiencia del eclipse solar que ocurrirá el Lunes, 8 de Abril, a través de una variedad de eventos de aprendizaje en la escuela. Un eclipse solar total ocurre cuando la Luna pasa entre el Sol y la Tierra, bloqueando completamente la cara del Sol. Este fenómeno natural nos brinda una oportunidad única de participar en un auténtico aprendizaje STEM, ya que Aurora podrá ver el eclipse con aproximadamente un 94% de cobertura del sol por la luna durante el día escolar, lo que lo convierte en una increíble oportunidad educativa para nuestros estudiantes.

El eclipse se puede ver con seguridad siempre que se use protección ocular adecuada. Las gafas de eclipse NO son gafas de sol normales; las gafas de sol normales, por oscuras que sean, no son seguras para ver el sol. Nuestra escuela ha comprado suficientes pares de anteojos de eclipse para compartir con cada estudiante y miembro del personal para ver el evento de manera segura.

El próximo lunes tendremos un horario modificado de asamblea del final del día, ya que la visualización óptima será entre las 1:45 y las 2:30 p.m., y el momento más cercano a la totalidad será a las 2:07 p.m. Para aquellos que no estarán afuera o en caso de mal tiempo, ofreceremos una transmisión en vivo dentro de la escuela.

La participación al aire libre es opcional. Para poder ver el eclipse al aire libre bajo la supervisión del personal, los estudiantes deben devolver un permiso firmado que les permita ver el eclipse al aire libre usando anteojos especiales certificados para seguridad. Estas hojas de permiso se enviaron a casa con los estudiantes el Martes 2 de Abril y deben devolverse a la oficina principal antes del Viernes, 5 de Abril. Los estudiantes que no entreguen un formulario de permiso firmado verán la transmisión en vivo del evento en el interior.

Semana Nacional de la Biblioteca Celebración de la Semana de Espíritu
La próxima semana es Semana Nacional de la Biblioteca y los estudiantes y personal de la escuela podrán participar empezando con:

Lunes, 8 de Abril: “Día de ejercitar el cerebro”- Ponte sudadera o ropa de ejercicio.
Martes, 9 de Abril: “Día de estar locos por la lectura”- Ponte ropa locochona, estrafalaria y descombinada.
Miércoles, 10 de Abril: “Participa en el juego…¡LEE!”- Ponte ropa de tu equipo deportivo favorito.
Jueves, 11 de Abril: “Otra vez Jueves”- Comparte tu libro infantil favorito.
Viernes 12 de Abril: “Sueña con leer”- Ponte pijamas y/o pantuflas.

Inscripción en Línea para el Año Escolar 24-25
Completar la inscripción en línea de su hijo(a) es un paso importante para prepararlo(a) para el próximo año escolar. Si tiene alguna pregunta o necesita restablecer la contraseña de su portal de padres de Infinite Campus, comuniquese con la Enlace de Padres, Leslie Hernandez al: 630-299-7177 o lhernandez@d131.org o pase a la oficina principal para obtener ayuda en persona.

Junta de Papás de EA

Viernes, 12 de Abril, dia de Silencio
El Viernes, 12 de Abril, el Club GLOW de FRMA patrocinará el Día del Silencio. En esta fecha, los estudiantes hacen voto de silencio para comunicarse contra el efecto silenciador del acoso y la intimidación.

La participación es voluntaria y los estudiantes interesados deberán registrarse a través del formulario de Google compartido esta semana por los maestros. Los estudiantes participantes usarán cordones que designaran cuando no estén hablando. Todavía se requiere que los estudiantes participen en las actividades de clase y hagan la tarea.

Los estudiantes participantes también pueden optar por quitarse los cordones a su propia discreción y hablar durante el día.

Los estudiantes también pueden involucrarse y mostrar su apoyo usando calcomanías si no completan el formulario o quieren hacer voto de silencio total.
