Girls Run the World walk-run eventGirls Run the World walk-run event

Our friends at the Aurora Police Department will host their 2nd annual “Girls Run The World Aurora, IL 5K and Party in the Park” on June 1. The annual community event takes place at the Phillips Park Aquatic Center.

High school students, community members, area leaders, churches, youth organizations, community groups, government agencies and others will come together to support the empowerment, leadership development, overall well-being of our female youth.

On-site registration opens with pre-race activities at 8:00 a.m., with a 9:00 a.m. race. At 10:00 a.m., the event will feature a Party in the Park, with performances, raffles and vendors.

The Girls Run the World (GRTW) program serves East High, Metea Valley High School, and West Aurora High School. GRTW serves young ladies ages 14-18, and has proven to be a pivotal program in the lives of participants by teaching the principles of conflict resolution, coping skills, leadership development, and effective communication.

The Girls Run the World 5K will directly benefit the Girls Run the World program and participants.
