District 131 has named Dr. David Ballard the principal at Fred Rodgers Magnet Academy for the 2017-18 school year.
Dr. Ballard, who most recently served as principal at Johnson Elementary, will transfer to the Magnet Academy following the recent resignation of former principal Angela Rowley.
“I am really excited to be here,” said Dr. Ballard. “I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a strong culture of educational excellence.”
Dr. Ballard brings a wealth of knowledge and experiences, having served as an administrator in many capacities over the last 20 years. Ballard begins his fifth year as a District 131 principal. Prior to joining District 131, Ballard was an assistant principal at Carpentersville Middle School in District 300, principal at Clinton Elementary School in District U-46, and principal at Washington Elementary School District 63. Dr. Ballard has also served as the director of ESL/bilingual, director of curriculum and technology in District 142, and assistant superintendent of curriculum in District 89.
Dr. Ballard earned a bachelor’s degree in history education from Western Illinois University, a master’s degree in educational administration from Northern Illinois University, and his doctoral degree from Olivet Nazarene in ethical leadership.
