FRMA Students Present “Where I’m From” Poetry ExhibitEstudiantes De FRMA Presentan La Exposición De Poesía De Dónde Soy

Fred Rodgers Magnet Academy(FRMA) current and former 8th grade students read excerpts from their “Where I’m From” poetry collection to the EASD 131 School Board of Education on Monday, April 15, and then to our community on Wednesday, April 17, at the Santori Aurora Public Library during a special reception. Their poems were heartwarming and inspiring!

Focusing on Nostalgic Reclamation while utilizing the theme: MY AURORA, students reflected on their past and ‘where they are from’, literally and figuratively with the purpose of healing after the pandemic and fueling resilience in each classroom and school.

In preparation for a return to school following the pandemic in 2021, our district partnered with Dr. Badia Ahad, Loyola University Provost, to train 900 teachers, administrators and support staff district wide on the concept of Nostalgia, Reclamation, Regeneration and Retribution.

Congratulations to Dr. Lisa Dallacqua, EASD 131 Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, who led the charge in making the Nostalgia Project a central and important part of our curriculum and to the 8th grade team of FRMA teachers who led this project at the school: Cynthia Martinez (Social Studies), Laura Krueger (Language Arts), Bethany Morton (Honors Algebra), Lisa Peña (Science) and Mara Zdanowska (Former Science Teacher).

Los estudiantes actuales y anteriores de octavo grado de Fred Rodgers Magnet Academy(FRMA) leyeron extractos de su colección de poesía “De Dónde Soy” ante la Junta de Educación Escolar EASD 131 el lunes 15 de abril y luego ante nuestra comunidad el miércoles 17 de abril en la Biblioteca Pública de Aurora Santori durante una recepción especial. ¡Sus poemas fueron conmovedores e inspiradores!

Centrándose en la Recuperación Nostálgica mientras utilizan el tema: MI AURORA, los estudiantes reflexionaron sobre su pasado y “de dónde son”, literalmente y figurativamente con el propósito de sanar después de la pandemia y fomentar la resiliencia en cada aula y escuela.

En preparación para el regreso a clases después de la pandemia en 2021, nuestro distrito se asoció con la Dra. Badia Ahad, rector de la Universidad Loyola, para capacitar a 900 maestros, administradores y personal de apoyo de todo el distrito sobre el concepto de nostalgia, recuperación, regeneración y retribución.

Felicitaciones a la Dra. Lisa Dallacqua, Superintendente Asistente de Currículo e Instrucción de EASD 131, quien lideró la tarea de hacer del Proyecto Nostalgia una parte central e importante de nuestro currículo y al equipo de maestros de FRMA de octavo grado que dirigieron este proyecto en la escuela: Cynthia Martinez (Estudios Sociales), Laura Krueger (Artes del Lenguaje), Bethany Morton (Álgebra con Honores), Lisa Peña (Ciencias) y Mara Zdanowska (ex profesora de Ciencias).
